Owner Information
Owner: Ronald Smith
Location: Damascus, Maryland

Vehicle Description: Vehicle was bought in good condition with a straight body. The cab & bed had been removed and the frame painted. It had a 283 V-8 with fuel injection, 350 automatic transmission, and 16" tires.

It needed work on its transfer case, brake system, electrical, and completion of the cab interior.

It has a 10´ paint job that is good enough for now. I moved from New Mexico to Maryland and had the Willys shipped by car transport. When he arrived, the car transport driver said he had to turn off his CB radio because he was getting so many offers for the Willys. (Well, that´s his story and I´m sticking to it.)

Vehicle Story: I thought I would try buying a Willys in good shape, rather than my normal method of starting with a heap and just being glad to see it run.

I bought this Willys in 2000 as "95%" complete. Since then, I have worked on the last 40%, which included having to rewire almost everything, a transfer case rebuild, sound proofing the cab, replacement of most of the braking system, addition of new tires & rims, and installation of an overdrive.

I am currently doing a twin axleotomy, rebuilding the front and rear axles and dropping the gearing down to a more reasonable 4.88 instead of its original 5.38 gearing.

The cab sound proofing + the rebuilt transfer case have worked out to make for a fairly quiet interior, which is definitely wierd for a Willys.
